Lobbyist Update
As most of you know, the New Mexico legislative session ended in mid February without passing the ill written bills of HB21 and SB445. This is good news for now but the consensus is that these bills will be revisited in next year’s 60 day session. By continuing your commitment to the New Mexico Mortgage Lenders Association, we will ensure the best defense possible moving into next year’s legislative session and beyond.
The NMMLA Legislative/Government Affairs Committee worked hundreds of hours to make sure that your industry and New Mexico’s consumers were protected during the 2008 session. Thank you to the countless volunteers who organized trips to Santa Fe to testify before committees, as well as the committee for its work on behalf of our members.
Special thanks to Tony Valencia, Bill Elliott, Lyle Greenberg, Jack Thompson and Ross Stenhouse for your commitment, your involvement, and your time. It is really a blessing when you have such volunteers in a trade association.
